(Bloomberg) -- Mobileye Global Inc. introduced an operating system called DXP that’s designed to help automakers develop customized self-driving systems and save them the time of building costly programs on their own.

“DXP is a driving experience platform,” Mobileye Chief Executive Officer Amnon Shashua said in a Bloomberg Television interview. The software includes the universal components that all automakers need and lets them add their own customization, he said, speaking from the CES conference in Las Vegas.

Using thousands of adjustable parameters already baked into the platform, carmakers will be able to more easily share the software with more models, rather than having to start over with each one. That will help build Mobileye’s business, Shashua said in the interview. “It allows us to scale.”
