Porter Airlines is adding a pair of California cities to its list of destinations, as the airline continues to expand its network to compete with the bigger players.

Beginning on Jan. 16, 2024, Porter will make daily roundtrip flights between Toronto and Los Angeles, and will add daily flights between Toronto and San Francisco nine days later on Jan. 25.

“This service offers San Francisco Bay Area travellers an exciting new way to Canada and reflects our own commitment to making travel more sustainable,” Ivar C. Satero, airport director at the San Francisco International Airport, wrote in a news release.

“We thank Porter for making SFO part of their expansion in the United States, and are confident this new service will be a success."

Porter has been aggressively expanding its network beyond eastern North America since acquiring 50 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, allowing it to fly to any city in North America.

Over the summer, Porter expanded to Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, while five Florida destinations begin this fall, with flights added to Tampa, Fort Myers, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
